On Tuesday 17 May 2022, over 100 of our members and supporters gathered at Adelaide Oval for our Impact100 SA annual Generous South Australians night, a night when we celebrate the impact of philanthropy in our community. See all the event photos here.
On the night, five of our members of diverse backgrounds, interests and ages – Carla Grace Orlwitz, Fatima McHugh, Paul Mayers, Sef van den Nieuwelaar, and our ambassador Raymond Spencer – spoke about their motivation for giving and passion for philanthropy and Impact100 SA. We also screened a video from the US founder of the Impact100 collective giving model, Wendy Steele.
The chair of our Grants Assessment Committee, David Walker, announced the following organisations have been shortlisted – from 39 expressions of interest applications – and have been invited to submit full applications for consideration, as follows:
• Baxter And Grimshaw Foundation Inc
• Bridges And Pathways Institute Inc
• Carclew Inc
• Cystic Fibrosis SA Inc
• Holiday Explorers Inc
• Ice Factor Foundation Inc
• Kornarwinmil Yunti Aboriginal Corp
• Lolly Jar Circus Inc
• One Culture Ltd
• Play It On Ltd
• Sammy D Foundation Inc
• Seeds Of Affinity Inc
• Talent Rise Foundation Ltd
• Talk Out Loud Ltd
• Victim Support Service Inc
Congratulations to our longlisted 15 – it is always a dilemma to select our finalists as all our community groups and charities are doing important work, and we would love to be able to help them all as everyone is playing their part to “help young people to succeed” and to “assist all people to have the tools to be self-sufficient”, which are the twin themes of our grantmaking this year. The organisations will now be invited to submit a full application by Friday 1 July, 2022.
From there, members will hear a short presentation and then vote for their preferred four projects at our Shortlisting Voting Event on Monday 15th August at Thomson Geer. The four finalists will then be paired with one of our wonderful volunteer mentors from EY, KPMG, Perks and PwC, to prepare a pitch for a $100,000 grant. These pitches will be heard at our Grant Awards Night on Wednesday 26 October 2022 at the Arkaba Hotel. Please save the dates!
Our thanks to all the organisations that applied and to our dedicated volunteers on the Grants Assessment Committee – David Walker, Cate Foskett, Clare Randall, David McGlennon, Julia Pitman, Kiah Elsworthy and Mike Stevens, Philip Huestis and Rosie Osman OAM.
Thank you to our generous hosts, the Adelaide Oval Stadium Management Authority, who donated the venue and food for our event and the wonderful people at Central Audio Visual for donating the AV services for the night. Thank you also to our new member, Michael Bois from Beg Your Pardon, for donating two gift vouchers to the value of $300 each as lucky door prizes. Last but not least, thank you to our wonderful Events Committee, Nickki Hamdorf and Jackie Newton and helpers for organising the night. As always, our events are reliant on the generosity and efforts of many people.
