Our annual Grants Awards’ event was due to have taken place on May 6 this year. Unfortunately, like all events around Australia, this has been cancelled in response to the public health threat and safety around COVID-19.
This would have been the night when our members would have gathered to hear dynamic and feel-good presentations from our four finalists, Cottages 4 Country Care, Justicenet SA Inc, Lions Heart Learning Inc, and Technology for Ageing and Disability.
Members would have voted for their favourite finalist which determines how two lots of $100,000 high impact grants are distributed to two of these well-deserving organisations to fund life-changing projects in our community.
Additionally, on this night, members would have heard from last year’s joint winners, Grandparents for Grandchildren and United Way SA, who would have talked to us about how they had used their high impact $100,000 grant from last year.
We know, from past experience, how much these organisations value being able to meet with you and tell you their story, which is why we made the decision to delay our Grants Award Night rather than hold an online vote as we had to do with our shortlisting event.
Our Grants Awards’ night is scheduled for Wednesday 28 October 2020. We hope that by delaying the process, we will be able to host the event publicly in our normal format.
In the case that this is not possible, we will provide video presentations and an online voting facility again to ensure that the winners are announced and money distributed in 2020.
Fingers crossed we can meet in person. Please save the date.
In the meantime, thanks to our supporters, Hughes PR, here and below is the video from last year’s Awards’ night, to give you a little taste of the excitement of the night.
Below also is a handful of photographs from the last five Grants Awards Nights held, representing hundreds of hours of volunteer time and over $1,000,000 of valuable funds given to South Australian not-for-profit organisations and grass roots charities, all who continue to do incredible work in our community.
