Habitat for Humanity project update

Members will recall that in 2021 we funded $100,000 to Habitat for Humanity for their Murray Bridge Youth Housing Project (Studio Purpose Stage Two) with the aim of providing safe and secure housing for youth experiencing homelessness or those at risk of homelessness.  Louise Hay, Habitat’s CEO advises that the project is advancing smoothly, and they are on track to hold the official launch in late January 2024.

Studio Purpose Stage Two is a joint project with several partners, including Murray Bridge Council, the South Australian Housing Authority, ac.care, and Believe Housing.

Louise reports that interior demolition is complete, with underfloor plumbing, bathroom walls, and new door openings completed and the construction of two new porches is currently in progress.

It is wonderful to see support from local businesses who are supporting the project by providing materials such as tiles, cabinets, doors, and landscaping. Several local colleges and educational institutions are also supporting the project by involving local youth who are volunteering on the site to gain valuable skills, knowledge, and experience. There are further opportunities for Impact100 SA members to support the project by volunteering on the site.
